Product Description
Psyllium husk is a type of soluble fiber derived from the bark used as a laxative.
Psyllium husk differs from some laxatives (such as osmotic laxatives) in that it does not cause bowel contraction (such as stimulant laxatives) or draw water from the intestine to soften the stool. Instead, it stimulates defecation by increasing the weight and volume of the stool. Unlike other laxatives, psyllium husk is safe and gentle enough for daily use.
1. Incorporating soluble fiber such as psyllium into the diet has been shown to improve constipation.
2. If you have high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), adding soluble fiber to your diet may help.
3. Psyllium husk has also been shown to reduce intestinal inflammation associated with IBS and has proven to be significantly better overall than other fiber supplements commonly used to treat IBS.
4. It has been reported that psyllium husk taken before meals significantly reduces fasting blood sugar and HbA1C levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
5. Soluble fiber helps you feel full after eating (called satiety), which can reduce hunger between meals and the risk of overeating.
